This was tricky, I am pretty sure the bottom image is Whimbrel. But I´m not entierly sure. You cant judge teh size on that image. But from other images I have seen the head of the Whimbrel is larger then the head of the Curlew, compared to the body. If I am wrong, please tell me.

  1. They are cool shorebirds, great shots.

  2. Fantastic...as always!!!

  3. Great to see the two side-by-side! Well done! I'm always wondering "Is that bill too short for a curlew?" or "Is that too long to be a whimbrel?"

  4. Really lovely shots...yes, it's hard to see the beaks in the second shot so hard to know. Love the l;ate afternoon light.
